K.5.3 Tumour of the cervix causing pyometron

  • The uterus is grossly enlarged, weighing 600g.
  • The surface contains engorged veins.
  • Lumen was filled with greenish yellow fluid – pus.
  • Cut section of the uterus – the wall is extremely thinned out.
  • The inner wall of the uterus was lined by yellow crumbly material – probably pus.
  • Also the inner wall contains minute haemorrhagic areas.
  • The cervix is distorted in shape and is occupied by an irregular growth which occludes the cervical canal.
  • Haemorrhagic areas can be seen in the growth.
  • Ovaries and fallopian tubes appear normal.
