K.1.21 Ovarian tumour

  • The cyst has been cut open.
  • The surface of the cyst is fairly smooth and covered with a white thin capsule.
  • The wall of the cyst is very thick and irregular at places.
  • It consists of groups of fatty areas and few dark (probably haemorrhagic areas)
  • The inner lining contained necrotic, dark crumbly material.
  • Histology showed a Sertoli - Leydig cell tumour of ovary
 

 

Clinical presentation

A 46 year old woman married for 10 years with no children.
She had hirsutism on examination.
