H.2.5 Granular contracted kidney
- The surface is irregular and shows coarse and fine granularity and scaring.
- The capsule appears to be adherent to the surface of the kidney.
Cut surface
- Cortex and medulla show marked thinning and distortion, with fibrotic change.
- One or two papillae are present.
- The calyces appear normal.
- There is markedly increased fatty tissue in the renal pelvis.
- These changes could be due to chronic glomerular nephritis.
