G.3.2 Hypersplenism
- Spleen of a 24 years old male patient with Thalassaemia.
- The spleen is markedly enlarged (weight 550gms).
- The surface appears irregular with few distinct nodules along the margins.
- The cut section shows a smooth surface with few nodules near the hilum.
- The cortical area appears rather lighter brown than the inner medulla.
- The capsule seems to have striped with ease (as seen at the hilum).
