G.3.1 Hypersplenism
- Spleen of a child aged 7 years with a history of Thalassaemia and severe anaemia.
- The spleen appears to be moderately increased in size.
- Weight of the spleen is 500gms.
- The surface is smooth but the colour varies from dark black to pale white.
- Pale areas are probably due to scarring following infarction.
- The cut surface appears solid and homogeneous
