G.2.1 Miliary Tuberculosis of the spleen
- This is a cut section of the spleen which appears to be enlarged.
- Scattered throughout but denser under the capsule are well defined, rounded whitish areas, the centers of which show caseous necrosis.
- Foci vary in size, but majority of them are about 1 cm in diameter.
- Enlarged spleen with diffusely distributed well defined, rounded, pale colour areas.
- Differential diagnosis:
- Miliary tuberculosis
- Lymphomas – Hodgkin's
- Sago spleen
- Histology confirmed Miliary tuberculosis
