F.3.7 Hepatocellular carcinoma
- A 45 years old male presented with a history of recurrent epigastric pain, yellow discoloration of eye and loss of weight for 3 months.
- On examinations he was febrile & icteric.
- Ascites was noted.
- The liver had an irregular surface with tender nodules.
- The specimen shows liver & gall bladder.
- The liver is grossly enlarged.
- Weight is 3050gm.
- The right lobe of the liver is bile stained, and contains numerous irregular, nodules of various sizes.
- Left lobe is cut open to show a large cystic area containing mucinous material.
- The surrounding liver is cirrhotic.
