Q.1.1 Acute appendicitis with abscess formation due to obstruction from faecoliths and a stricture
- The appendix has been bisected longitudinally.
- Occupying the lower 2/3 of the organ, there is a large faecolith.
- Above this, the lumen appears to be kinked and divided probably by a fibrous stricture and the faecolith are causing obstruction of the lumen.
- The superior pole of the appendix shows an abscess on its wall.
- It has almost extended to the serosal surface.
- The serosal surface appears hyperaemic.
