O.2.5 Carcinoma of the ileo-caceal junction

  • Specimen of lower part of ileum, ileocaceal junction and part of ascending colon.
  • A solid growth is seen to arise from the ileo-caceal junction occluding the lumen.
  • Spread to the ileum and colon is seen.
  • Some areas have a translucent appearance.
  • Small area of haemorrhage and necrosis can be seen.
