K.8.11 Ectopic/ tubal pregnancy

  • From a 34 years old female with a history of left side abdominal pain for 3 days duration.
  • POA – 6 week.
  • No bleeding PV.
  • The specimen is that of the ovary, and fallopian tube.
  • The ovary is situated on the top of the specimen.
  • It shows an enlarged corpus luteum cyst (the lining of which appear yellow probably the theca lutein layer)
  • The fallopian tube appears to be distended by blood clot and few chorionic villi but the fallopian tube does not show rupture or perforation of its wall.
  • The fimbriae are seen towards the left side of the specimen.
