K.8.3 Uterus following a septic abortion
- The uterus is enlarged.
- Outer surface is smooth.
- A dark subserosal haemorrhagic patch is seen in the middle left on the body of uterus.
- Posterior surface of the cervix has a deficiency and looks darker.
- Cut surface – Myometrium is thickened.
- Endometrial surface shows crumbling haemorrhagic areas.
- Some areas show fibrinous tag.
- Cervix appears lacerated towards the right side.
- It is haemorrhagic and looks friable.
