K.7.2 Chronic salpingo-oophoritis forming adnexal masses
- From a 38 year old patient with a history of menorrhagia for 8 months
- The specimen is that of the uterus, both ovaries and fallopian tube. Total weight 250g
- Uterus appears to be bulky, but smooth. The cut section shows thickening of the myometrium. Cervix appears normal.
Right ovary & fallopian tube
- Ovary appears to be nodular.
- Cut surface shows a cyst.
- The fallopian tube is grossly dilated and kinked, probably due to collection of fluid within the tube.
Left ovary & fallopian tube
- Ovary appears to be rather solid and pale white.
- The fallopian tube was distended with fluid.
