K.2.2 Endometrium cervix

  • From a female of 84 years with a history of bleeding p.v. for 3/12 (post menopausal).
  • Slight abdominal pain for same duration
  • The uterus appears to be bulky.
  • The cut section shows, on the right of the specimen, a tumour mass arising from the body of the uterine cavity extending from the fundus almost to the internal os.
  • This mass appears to be necrotic, haemorrhagic and friable.
  • The ovary on the same side shows a pale cut surface with focal, white specks of tissue. (? Tumour tissue)
  • The left ovary shows a large cyst with a smooth inner lining.
  • The cervix appears normal.
  • Histology showed Papillary Adenocarcinoma, arising from the endometrium, infiltrating the myometrium and the ovary on that side.
