K.1.4 Solid ovarian tumour

• Specimen shows an oval lump (20x10cm) arising from the right ovary.
• It has a white capsule.
• The surface is smooth.
• Minute haemorrhages can be seen under the capsule.
• Cut surface of the lesion is solid, white with yellow discolouration at the periphery.
• Remnants of normal ovarian tissue can be seen.
• Uterus is normal in size.
• The muscle is thickened.
• Small intramural fibroid is seen.
• The possibilities include
  • Fibroma of the ovary
  • Leiomyoma of the ovary
