S.1.2 Ganglioneuroma - Adrenal gland
- The specimen is from a 59 years old male presenting with a left side abdominal mass which moved with respiration.
- Intra operative finding of retroperitoneal mass.
- This was attached to the left kidney.
- Both the lump and the kidney had been removed.
- The weight of this specimen was 750gms.
- The kidney appears to be normal.
- The mass has a smooth outer surface.
- The cut surface shows a variegated appearance with pale white solid areas alternating with dark haemorrhagic and necrotic areas.
- There appears to be a thick capsule around the mass.
- The histology of the lesion confirmed this as a ganglioneuroma.
