  • Specimen contains longitudinally cut open abdominal aorta with renal artery and kidney.
  • The whole luminal surface of aorta is covered with atheromatous plaques.
  • There are 2 areas which show aneurysmal dilatation.
  • The renal artery appears thrombosed.
  • The origin of the renal artery is surrounded by a large atheromatous plaque which has ulcerated.
  • There are many other plaques that are also ulcerated.
  • The kidney is contracted due to poor blood supply.
