- Specimen contains longitudinally cut open abdominal aorta with renal artery and kidney.
- The whole luminal surface of aorta is covered with atheromatous plaques.
- There are 2 areas which show aneurysmal dilatation.
- The renal artery appears thrombosed.
- The origin of the renal artery is surrounded by a large atheromatous plaque which has ulcerated.
- There are many other plaques that are also ulcerated.
- The kidney is contracted due to poor blood supply.
