Z.1.3 Atheromatous plaques in aorta with aneurysm formation
- The specimen shows longitudinally opened thoracic aorta & a part of the lung.
- The aorta appears irregular and distended in places.
- The luminal surface is studded with yellowish atheromatous plaques some of which have ulcerated.
- On the pulmonary side of the aorta there is a saccular distended portion – aneurysmal dilatation with thrombus formation.
