  • The mitral valve cusps are thickened and nodular and the chordae tendinae are thickened too.
  • Friable vegetations are attached to the medial end of the opened mitral valve cusps.
  • The aortic valve cusps are also thickened.
  • Posterior aspect of the specimen: The right atrium and ventricle opened into. Vegetations seen at the edges of the tricuspid valve. Mural thrombi are seen lodged in the right atrial musculature.
