Friable vegetations are attached to the medial end of the opened mitral valve cusps.
The aortic valve cusps are also thickened.
Posterior aspect of the specimen: The right atrium and ventricle opened into. Vegetations seen at the edges of the tricuspid valve. Mural thrombi are seen lodged in the right atrial musculature.
